Sugar Free Simple Syrup

Enjoying a cocktail on Keto doesn’t have to be a challenge if you incorporate a sugar free simple syrup.   As a rule we should significantly reduce our sugar intake on keto.  However simple syrups can take the edge off any cocktail.

Making a sugar free simple syrup can be a little tricky when using sugar substitutes.  Particularly because if you don’t get the ratio right it can crystalize.  As a rule to prevent crystallization you’ll want to use a three to one ratio.  In other words three parts water to one part sugar substitute and I used monkfruit classic.  On the other hand if you’re not into making your own simple syrup you can always buy some.  Surprisingly Jordan’s Skinny Mixes have zero carbs, sugar and calories.

If you store your simple syrup in an airtight bottle and store it in the refrigerator it will stay fresh for about a week.  However, if you add ½ ounce of vodka or gin to your simple syrup it will act as a preservative.  Thus allowing you to store it for 3-4 weeks.

Lastly, if you want to add another cocktail to your mix check out my strawberry mint fizz cocktail
