The Blackberry Basil Gin Fizz is a far cry from the original gin fizz. The original gin fizz which was created in New Orleans contained egg whites and gave the cocktail a frothy look.
I’d like to think this Gin Fizz is a more modern version of the original cocktail. This cocktail calls for dry gin, however when combined with lime juice and simple syrup the dryness on the backend is quite smooth. Then it’s topped with the refreshing addition of basil. Furthermore, I added a little twist by creating blackberry basil ice cubes.
I plan to mix things up with a few different cocktails and this Blackberry Basil Gin Fizz is the first addition to my summer cocktail series.
